2006 AusIMM NZ Branch annual conference in Waihi
14 August 2006 - The New Zealand Branch of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy is holding its 2006 conference in Waihi from 29 August to 1 September 2006.
With the theme 'Mining in the Community', 46 conference papers will cover geology, current and proposed mining operations, rehabilitation, environmental and social aspects of mining and exploration, and impact on and importance to communities.
Guest speakers will include Associate Energy Minister Harry Duynhoven, NZMIA president Peter Atkinson, Newmont Waihi CEO Adriaan van Kersen, Minval Associates managing director Mike Lawrence, AusIMM CEO Don Larkin, Oceana Gold CEO Steve Orr and L&M Group chairman Geoff Loudon.
